Fwd: Organic Farming & The Simplicity Next To Industrial

By Rob Sutter

It seems as though there is a lot of attention given to the industrial ways when considering farming, which makes me scratch my head. To me, there is so much more that can be considered about organic farming, especially when there are so many different crops that can be brought to the surface. That being said, you may be curious as to what you can attain from this procedure. If this is the case, I have no doubt that there are certain stories that deserve your interest.

If you'd like to know, there was one story that was posted on USDA and it brought quite a bit of attention to the efforts that organic farming can call for. Authorities along the lines of Colle Farmers Market know all too well how vital it is for consumers to be able to make the most out of the various crops out there. Carol Huether, a native of Nevada, has been able to do exactly that. She not only focused on such crops but made a business for herself, too.

Huether, who worked in managing a number of companies in the past, left her last job a few years ago so that she could focus more on cultivating land. In Spring Creek, Nevada, Huether had 10 acres worth, which is something is more than worth getting into discussion about. Keep in mind that the arid terrain in this region does not make matters easy for farmers, especially with the presence of dust storms. As a result, further efforts must be conducted in order for there to be strong results.

Huether was not without resources, though, as she decided to make the most out of hoop houses. These are structures which are closely related to greenhouses in terms of design but one can make the argument that they are actually easier to utilize. For one, they do not need energy in order for them to be regulated; instead, it is a matter of the consistent sunlight that is native to Spring Creek. What this means is that the typical growing season in this particular region is expanded upon.

When it comes to utilizing the most of what little that you have, Huether was able to match that in spades. I do not think that anyone can argue with this point, especially when you consider that there are still various limitations that can be associated with organic farming. This is, of course, dependent on the location that you are living within. With sunlight and all, it seems as though various components can help to make going organic the option to go with as opposed to more conventional farming.
